(based on a true story) is a format in which choreographer Marc Vanrunxt engages in an intense, creative encounter with another artist. The outcome of these short, week-long working sessions can vary greatly, but is always surprising and personal, due to the great freedom of the format.
For (based on a true story) #12 LACRIMOSA, Vanrunxt will dance within this format for the first time himself.
Together with choreographer & dancer Truus Bornkhorst and mezzo-soprano and composer Els Mondelaers, he will create a unique performance for Welcome to Asbestos Hall during Holland Festival 2025.
With this 12th edition, Vanrunxt concludes the ongoing theme of tears.
This motif ran like a thread through several performances: from Lamentatio, the solo for Marie De Corte (2009), to lostmovements for Jan Martens (2019) and Freie Form with Samantha van Wissen (2024).
The latter creation can also be seen at the Holland Festival, at Frascati on 24 and 25 June 2025.
